K'uychi

What is it about?

K'uychi Project aims to revitalize Peruvian culture through the use of technology and didactic materials. Considering the important connection between Language and Culture, I decided to work on promoting regional languages among their younger speakers. Currently focusing on Quechua, a language from the Andes, I retold and illustrated a children's story and had it translated with the help of Helberth, a native speaker. "K'uychi and the Awki" tells the story of K'uychi, a young girl who goes in search for water after her village has been hit by drought, on her journey she meets different friendly creatures who guide her to a mountain spirit, the Awki. The book is available in print (Quechua/Spanish) and digital (Quechua/Spanish and Spanish/English). It is my intention that bilingual children will benefit from written material in their language so they continue learning it and thus preserving their rich cultural traditions.

Kuychi Mini Game is a one screen game featuring K'uychi, the heroine in bilingual children's book "K'uychi and the Awki". The player moves from side to side collecting raindrops while trying to avoid falling Kon, a character from Peruvian mythology. He is the god of rain and wind who became vengeful after humans stopped giving him offerings. He punished them by changing fertile lands into arid fields, thus turning the Peruvian coast into the long desert strip it is today. The inspiration for Kon's illustrations comes from ancient Paracas textiles, he is represented as a flying boneless creature with a feline face. During the game K'uychi says different words in Quechua when collecting items. When she collects raindrops: "haylli" - bravo (victory chant), "unu" - water, "para" - rain. When she collects red hearts: "sonqo" - heart. When collecting rainbow drops and hearts: "k'uychi" - rainbow. She also expresses pain when Kon falls on her. Kuychi Mini Game is for everyone looking to play a casual game with an interesting background story and a simple objective, collect as much water as you can!

K'uychi Project busca revitalizar la cultura peruana mediante el uso de la tecnología y materiales didácticos. Teniendo en cuenta la conexión importante entre el lenguaje y la cultura, decidí trabajar en promover idiomas regionales entre sus hablantes más jóvenes. Actualmente centrándome en el quechua, un idioma de los Andes, escribí e ilustré una historia infantil y la traduje con la ayuda de Helberth, artista y quechuahablante. "K'uychi y el Awki" cuenta la historia de K'uychi, una niña que va en busca de agua después de que su pueblo ha sido golpeado por la sequía, en su viaje conoce a diferentes criaturas amistosas que la guían hacia un espíritu de la montaña, el Awki . El libro está disponible en versión impresa (quechua / español) y digital (quechua / español y español / inglés). Es mi intención que los niños bilingües se beneficien de material escrito en su idioma para que continúen aprendiendo y preservando así sus ricas tradiciones culturales.

Kuychi Mini Game es un juego de una pantalla que presenta a K'uychi, la heroína del libro bilingüe para niños "K'uychi y el Awki". El jugador se mueve de un lado a otro recolectando gotas de lluvia mientras intenta evitar Kon, un personaje de la mitología peruana. Él es el dios de la lluvia y el viento que se volvió vengativo después de que los humanos dejaran de llevarle ofrendas. Los castigó cambiando tierras fértiles por campos áridos, convirtiendo así la costa peruana en la larga franja desértica que es hoy. La inspiración para las ilustraciones de Kon proviene de los textiles antiguos de Paracas, se le representa como una criatura voladora sin huesos y una cara felina. Durante el juego, K'uychi dice diferentes palabras en quechua cuando recoge objetos. Cuando ella recoge gotas de lluvia: "haylli" - bravo (canto de victoria), "unu" - agua, "para" - lluvia. Cuando ella recoge corazones rojos: "sonqo" - corazón. Cuando recoge gotas y corazones de arco iris: "k'uychi" - arco iris. Ella también expresa dolor cuando Kon le cae encima.
